Listen:

November 5, 2006

I’m waiting for the whole world to end.
Song birds get their throats cut
and trees fall down like dead
elephants, crumbling at the knees.

Listen: no trees will fall and
no birds will die.
The world carries on.
I think that’s worse.

    Superlative imagery in the former.
    Wonderfully caustic in the latter.
    Nicely played.

  2. Thanks so much. I posted this up late last night and getting up this morning was just about to take it down. Hadn’t been sure about it for a number of resons. Imagine how nice it felt to see your comment waiting!

Nice site by the way. Just stopped by to have a look and will definatly do so again. The pictures work really well with the poems – which are beautifully written. Will add you to the blogroll.
