The Mould Man

March 10, 2009

The mould man came today
and he ripped out the floor in my kitchen
and he ripped out the units
underneath my kitchen sink,
and he fitted me with a larger cupboard,
and crawled under the bath to get at a leak.

And the mould man came today
and I’ve waited for him for so long
but he wasn’t what I had expected
no gas mask or boiler suit front.

But the mould man came like a prophet
sent by the agents, of De Montfort House
and he sealed up the walls in the bathroom
and painted them blue like an artic cloud.

And the mould man had an answer for everything –
for the death trap of wires rolled up by the door,
for the man from bar roma with children,
the famous poet I’d met while he toured.

And the mould man had an answer for heartbreak,
the mould man had an answer like gold,
the mould man had an answer for living,
the mould man had an answer for mould.

    A tarot-card person!

  2. Yes, def 🙂 …need to rework that last stanza though. Could def work better – something about mould holding secrets, absorbing them and melting away with them. Hmm. LXX

The mould man, Mold man – I ave been to Mold, whilst staying in a Holiday Camp for City kids …. I left and went for a wandel, when I’d weed in a friendly lady’s cottage garden loo, I found myself in Mold market, and there, for a few pee, I bought some little lilac cotton drawers …

Mould is beautful, a bearded tomato puree photographs a treat!

Enjoyed tonight’s WORD Lydia, ta for the organisation of … unfortunately had to leave early (despite the content of my poem) as not keen on hanging round station alone after a certain time!

Also relieved that most people seem to be reading from cards,if not a sheet, but I’m still to nervous not to need that. let alone memorize it and punctuate my lines with punchy gestures!
