In addition to writing and performing, Lydia works across literature in a range of other professional capacities.
She is the Artistic Director and Compere of WORD!, the longest running spoken word night in the Midlands; Co-Director of BrightSparks, the award winning arts in mental health group – and the part-time Arts in Health Coordinator for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.
In these capacites she has developed and continues to direct a range of nationally recognised projects, including: Showcase Smoothie and Look-A-Lady-Ukulele (see HERE too). Projects she has previously supported the development of include: The Next Life, by David Parkin and Moving InWards, by Peter Hirst (Refuge).
She has been the Chair of the Yellow Book Poetry Panel of Judges – a project endorsed by Ruby Wax, Stephen Fry, Mark Morris and other luminaries – since the competition’s inception and to date.
In 2011 she Co-Directed Everybody’s Reading – Leicester’s Festival of Books and Reading, a festival she continues to support in both a professional and voluntary capacity. She was also the Artistic Director and Developer of The Lyric Lounge – a touring festival of poetry, now in it’s fifth year.
